Recycle Your Old Running Shoes

Monday, May 29th, 2006

Through Nike’s Reuse-a-shoe program, you can keep your old athletic shoes out of landfills by having them turned into athletic courts and tracks in your local community. Just drop your old shoes off at a local running store, or recycling location that is working with Nike, and they take care of the rest. Note that only athletic shoes without metal (no cleates or spikes) are accepted so you are better off taking your old pumps and boots to the local Goodwill or shelter. To find a local Reuse-a-Shoe drop off location, your best bet is to Google “Your Town” + “Reuse-a-Shoe”.
