U.S. Junkers Cruising the Streets of Mexico
So, you’ve finally dumped the old SUV or gas guzzling “classic” and moved into something a bit more efficient in hopes of saving a few bucks at the pump and cleaning up the air. Well, it looks like that old heap isn’t going to be taken off the roads after all. As Americans upgrade to newer and more efficient vehicles, the oldies are headed to Mexico where “If it’s cheap and runs, it will find a home”.
The flood of roomier cars from the U.S. is having a profound impact on sales of subcompacts in Mexico, where sales have dropped 16.4% in the last year.
